On Friday, May 24, 2024, shortly after 9:30 a.m., a black Vauxhall Astra collided with a white Toyota Aygo at the junction of Garlinge High Street and Shottendane Road.

Emergency services promptly responded to the scene. Two women who were in the Toyota were transported to a London hospital, where they remain in a serious but stable condition. Another woman, who was a passenger in the same car, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A 23-year-old man, believed to have been in the Vauxhall, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody and has also received medical attention at a local hospital.

Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision. Prior to the collision, it’s reported the Vauxhall had been involved in a pursuit with Kent Police and as part of standard procedure, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct
