Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) will be popping up in communities across the county next month for a series of fun and engaging events.

Firefighters and other teams will host the service’s new neighbourhood meet and greet dates, which will be held in public areas, such as parks and open spaces.

Nick Scott, a Group Manager at KFRS, said:

“Our fire station open days have always been extremely popular, so we wanted to create something similar that we can take to the centre of local communities for everyone to access and enjoy.

“These events are free and open to all ages and will include a fun line-up of entertainment and activities, such as games, meet and greets with the crews and other emergency services, interactive safety advice, and the chance to hop aboard a fire engine.

“It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly afternoon in your neighbourhood, while learning important tips on how to stay safe.”

The sessions will run from 3pm to 6pm at the following locations:

  • 13 June – St Martin’s Field, New Romney
  • 20 June – Victoria Park, Ashford
  • 25 June –The Dip, The Parade, Birchington-on-Sea, Minnis Bay
  • 27 June – East Kent Railway, Station Road, Shepherdswell, Dover

Nick added:

“To make sure these events are enjoyable and accessible for everyone, if anyone in your group has additional needs, you can come along 30 minutes earlier to avoid the crowds. Please just email events@kent.fire-uk.org to let our organisers know.”

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
