Sarah Frow, a Fitness Instructor at Kent’s Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), who has Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease, is beginning a charity run from Winchester to Canterbury today, 27 May 2024.
To raise her target of £20,000 for PCIT, based at the University of Kent’s Canterbury Campus, Sarah will be running 20-30 miles a day over six days, concluding her run on Saturday 1 June back at the Canterbury campus.
Sarah Frow was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease two years ago, aged just 44.
She is taking on the Pilgrims’ Way journey, an ancient pilgrimage route of over 140 miles, to raise both awareness of Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease and funds for the PCIT – a unique treatment and research centre offering tailored non-drug therapies at The University of Kent.
Sarah’s schedule is:
- Monday 27 May: Winchester to Upper Froyle
- Tuesday 28 May: Upper Froyle to Guildford
- Wednesday 29 May: Guildford to South Croydon
- Thursday 30 May: South Croydon to Rochester
- Friday 31 May: Rochester to Charing
- Saturday 1 June: Charing to Canterbury
Following Sarah’s diagnosis she has redefined her approach to exercise – she now sees it as a tool to empower her brain and slow the disease’s progression.
Sarah Frow said:
‘I was seeking a physical challenge which was gruelling yet inspirational. A friend suggested running part of the Pilgrims’ Way, and I thought why not take it a step further and do the entire route!
‘I am raising money for PCIT, as not only is it a great place to work, it is a much needed facility for people living with this complex disease. I hope I can inspire other people living with Parkinson’s to live well, to be active and to be strong!’
Sarah has exceeded her initial £10,000 fundraising target and has now increased this target to £20,000. To learn more about Sarah’s challenge, her training to date and to sponsor her, please visit her JustGiving page.
