Between Wednesday 22 May and Friday 24 May 2024, staff members at a petrol station in Maidstone Road contacted Kent Police to report groceries including meat, coffee and cheese, had been stolen on three separate occasions.

Neighbourhood police attending the most recent incident discovered and detained a suspect in Palmerston Road, Chatham. The patrol also recovered a quantity of food items.

A Chatham man was later charged with three counts of theft by investigators from the Medway Victim Based Crime Team. The 46-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 25 May.
