A suspected shoplifter who threatened a security guard at Tesco in Faversham has been swiftly arrested and charged.

On Wednesday 29 May 2024, beauty and cleaning products to the value of £75 were taken from Tesco in Crescent Road, Faversham but when the store security guard tried to confront the suspected thief, he was verbally threatened.

Later that same day, cleaning products to the value of £72 were taken from Sainsbury’s in Bysingwood Road.

Following enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, neighbourhood officers identified a suspect and the following day visited an address in Faversham and arrested a woman.

Investigators from the Swale Victim Based Crime Team later charged a 33-year-old woman from Southsea in Hampshire with two counts of theft from a shop and one count of common assault. She was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 1 June 2024.
