Between Tuesday 21 May and Sunday 2 June 2024, various items including meat and cleaning products were stolen from Asda Express, Morrisons and Asda in Sittingbourne.

At one of the shops, a security guard was assaulted as a suspect tried to leave the premises. Following enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, officers arrested a woman on Monday 3 June.

Investigators from the Swale Victim Based Crime Team later charged Rebecca Lee with six counts of theft from a shop and one count of common assault. The 43-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4 June where she admitted the offences.

She was jailed for six months and ordered to pay compensation of £298.
