Residents and visitors alike can look forward to a series of lively events taking place in Folkestone town centre over the summer months.

The series, dubbed Folke About Town, includes a sports day, arts and crafts markets, including a teenage market, and a food festival and aims aims to add vibrancy to the heart of the town, mirroring the physical regeneration planned for the wider area.

The events will be co-produced with the community and establish what type of initiatives work in the area along Guildhall Street and Sandgate Road. It is hoped some of these events can become self-sustaining and develop as permanent fixtures in the town centre events calendar.

A council spokesperson said:

“We’re excited to be enhancing Folkestone town centre with these events, put on in tandem with local people.

“This really is about finding out what will work for the future of the town centre. Whatever you’re into, there’ll be something for you so please come down and get involved whether that be working as a partner, volunteering or just enjoying the fun!”

More detailed information about the events planned are to be released shortly. Find out more about the town centre activation on the council website and about the partnership and volunteering opportunities by contacting emanuele.deangelis@themeans.co.uk
