On Thursday 6 June 2024 the annual service to mark the 80th anniversary for all Normandy Veterans who fought and died in the Normandy Campaign in June 1944 was held in the The Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate Road, Folkestone.

The Service was led by Reverend Peter Ashman, during which wreaths and wooden crosses were laid around the NVA Memorial in the Garden of Remembrance.

In attendance, with representatives of Folkestone’s Ex-Service Associations and Standards, was the Town Mayor of Folkestone – Councillor Abena Akuffo-Kelly, Town Councillors, the Chair of Folkestone & Hythe District Council, representatives from the Royal Gurkha Rifles, the Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Geoff Miles, and members of the public.
