Kent Police was called at 9.45am on Friday 21 June 2024 to a report of a man standing outside female public toilets at a leisure centre on William Street, Herne Bay.

It was reported that the man followed two women into the toilets on separate occasions, before leaving in the direction of the High Street. Police attended and shortly afterwards arrested a man nearby.

A suspect has been charged with breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) following an incident in the town in which a man reportedly followed women into female public toilets.

Later the same day, a Herne Bay man aged 67, was charged with three offences in connection with the reports that were in breach of a SHPO.

He appeared initially before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 22 June and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court at a later date.
