A speedy response by officers has led to an arrest in Sheerness following a report a man possessed a knife in the town.

Kent Police was made aware of the incident in Beech Road in the early hours of Saturday 22 June 2024. and patrols immediately attended and detained a suspect. A knife was also recovered. It is alleged two constables were assaulted during the arrest.

A man from High Street in Sheerness, was later charged with possession of a knife in a public place and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The 41-year-old was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 July.
