Quantities of meat, health supplements, clothing, cleaning products and confectionary were allegedly stolen from Tesco, Holland and Barrett, the Co-op and Poundland across the North Kent area.

Officers from the Medway Victim Based Crime Team completed enquiries into the incidents including the examination of CCTV footage and on Friday 5 July, a man from Gillingham was arrested and taken into custody.

He was later charged with five counts of theft. The items stolen were valued at more than £650. The 32-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 6 July.
