A third suspect has been charged following a robbery in Cliftonville, Margate.
Police were called at 3.40am on Wednesday 24 July 2024 to a report that three men had entered an address on St Paul’s Road in Cliftonville and had made threats to two residents. It was alleged that the victims were asked to hand over money and one man was assaulted before the suspects left the scene by car.
Police arrived and a man was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, from where he has since been discharged.
Following an investigation by Kent Police that involved working with South Yorkshire Police, two men were charged on Friday 26 July in connection with the incident. They appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later that day and were remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday 23 August.
On Saturday 27 July, Kent Police officers charged a third man, Mahammed Ahmed, 24, with robbery, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of an offensive weapon. Mr Ahmed from East London, appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 July. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday 27 August.
