VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) is the celebration of the surrender of Japan, ending combat in the Second World War on 15 August 1945.
In Folkestone the day will be commemorated by a service followed by the laying of wreaths at the Burma Star Memorial in the Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate Road.
The Service will begin at 11.00am and will be attended by civic dignitaries, military personnel, representatives of ex-service associations and their standards and youth organisations.
