A local man has been charged with assisting an offender following the suspected murder of a man in Strood.
The victim, who was in his 60s, was found dead inside a property in Gun Lane at 12.30am on Friday 26 July 2024. A 44-year-old man from Strood was detained on Wednesday 31 July 2024, after search warrants were executed in connection with the investigation. He was charged on Saturday 3 August 2024. and additionally charged with theft and fraud.
He appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Monday 5 August where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 2 September. Two further men, aged 38 and 33, were also arrested and subsequently released on bail until 28 and 29 October respectively.
A woman aged 42, of Gun Lane, Strood, who was previously charged with murder on 29 July remains on remand. She has a trial date fixed for 10 February 2025.
