Kent Police report that a violent offender from the Folkestone area who assaulted a man and intimidated him after the incident was reported to police, has been jailed for more than two and a half years.
Tyler Flisher turned on his victim during a disturbance in Hawkinge on Sunday 23 October 2022. Police were called to the Pannell Drive area shortly after 9pm that evening, after it was reported that a man had been attacked and was bleeding from a wound in his chest. The man attended a local hospital for medical treatment and was discharged a week later.
Police say Flisher had gone to meet with a woman earlier that evening, at a public place near to Benson Lane. The victim was also in the area with friends and the two groups of people, who were known to each other, became involved in a dispute.
During the disturbance that ensued, Flisher inflicted an injury to his victim that was subsequently confirmed to be a stab wound. he was arrested the following day and he was later charged. Despite having been given bail conditions not to approach witnesses to the incident, Flisher persisted in intimidating his victim and causing him to fear further harm.
After pleading guilty to unlawful wounding and witness intimidation, Flisher, 21, was sentenced to two years and seven months’ imprisonment on Thursday 1 August 2024 at Canterbury Crown Court. He was also given a three year restraining order, prohibiting him from making any contact with the victim and a further witness to the incident.
Detective Constable Natasha Russell said:
‘Flisher is a violent offender who showed no remorse to his victim and persisted in making threats towards him after the offence was reported to us.
‘There is no place for knives on our streets and I hope the custodial sentence that has been imposed sends a clear message that violence like this will not be tolerated.
‘I hope that the victim can feel a sense of closure and reassurance, knowing that Flisher is behind bars, and knowing that he is protected by a restraining order upon his release.’
