Police were called at 3.40am on Wednesday 24 July 2024 to a report that three men had entered a property on St Paul’s Road in Cliftonville and had made threats to two residents.
It was alleged that the victims were asked to hand over money and one man was assaulted before the suspects left the scene by car. Officers arrived at the property and a man was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. He has since been discharged.
Following an investigation by Kent Police which involved working with South Yorkshire Police, two men were arrested and, on Friday 26 July, were charged in connection with the incident. They appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later that day and were remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday 23 August.
The following day, Saturday 27 July, officers charged a third man, who was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday 27 August and a fourth suspect was arrested on Wednesday 7 August.
The following day, a 24-year-old man from Sheffield, was charged with robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded in custody to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Friday 9 August.
