A Dover man is to appear in court charged with making a false bomb threat in the town.

Kent Police was called to Snargate Street on the route to the Port of Dover at 11.08am on Thursday 15 August 2024, following a report of a suspicious package placed there.

A cordon was put in place while the street was searched as a precaution. The call was deemed to be a hoax and an arrest was made the same day.

A charge of making a false bomb threat was authorised against a 52-year-old man, from the town. He has been remanded and was due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 16 August.
