Two day purge sees twenty speeding drivers reported in village near Canterbury

Twenty people have been reported for speeding after officers held a two-day traffic operation in Wingham.

Following concerns reported to Kent Police, neighbourhood officers visited the village on 10 and 11 August 2024 to monitor the speeds of vehicles traveling along the High Street.

A total of 20 vehicles were seen to be exceeding the speed limit. The highest speed recorded was 38 mph in the 20mph zone.

Inspector Leigh Woolnough said:

‘Our officers will regularly carry out traffic operations around the district to ensure motorists are adhering to the law. Speed limits are there for a reason and anyone found disregarding them will leave themselves open to a fine and points on their licence at the very least.’
