Kent Police reported that four suspects have been charged over a violent assault in Maidstone which saw a man’s head repeatedly stamped on outside a pub in the town.

The victim was reportedly attacked outside a pub in Earl Street, during a violent incident which left him unconscious.

Kent Police was called to the scene at around 12.20am on 4 August 2024 where it is alleged the man was initially headbutted by one of the group before others joined in. The assault is reported to have continued as the victim lay on the ground, where he was stamped on and struck with a glass bottle. The suspects then reportedly left the scene.

Within the next two days, officers made four arrests and the suspects were all later charged with causing grievous bodily harm and affray. A man aged 39 from Maidstone, a 33-year-old man from Erith and a man aged 32 from Belvedere all appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 6 August.

They were granted conditional bail until a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 2 October. A 45-year-old man, from Tonbridge was remanded in custody by magistrates. His next hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on 3 October.

The victim has since been discharged from hospital.
