Police at the Port of Dover
Four suspected thieves were arrested and seven vehicles seized during a police operation at the Port of Dover.
Kent Police, along with Port of Dover Police, Thames Valley Police, and Sussex Police, checked over 650 vehicles leaving the country.
The operation, led by Kent Police’s Rural Task Force and the South East Partnership Against Rural Crime, aimed to find stolen plant and farm machinery.
On August 27, officers found a car with cloned plates, stolen from Manchester, and arrested three men for burglary. On September 10, a van with stolen vehicle parts led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man. Five other vehicles were seized for traffic offences, and 16 people were reported for traffic violations. The National Construction and Agriculture Theft Team supported the operation.
Kent Police Sergeant Ross Haybourne emphasized the importance of these checks in preventing criminals from leaving the country and recovering stolen equipment.
