A man has been arrested and charged following reports of a firearm being brandished in Maidstone town centre.
Kent Police responded to a call at approximately 7pm on Monday, 16 September 2024, reporting a man seen with what appeared to be a handgun on Knightrider Street. Officers arrived promptly and arrested a 32 year-old local man at 7:20pm.
A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of a suspected air weapon hidden in a bush. The suspect has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and is set to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 18 September.
