It was a day of excitement and discovery for young children at Brompton Barracks in Gillingham, where they got the chance to hop inside a real police vehicle!
The event, organized by The Corps of Royal Engineers, saw Kent Police officers joining the annual family day on Saturday, 14 September. The constables were all smiles as they chatted with visitors about the perks of a police career and shared handy crime prevention tips with soldiers, veterans, and their families.
The highlight for many was the police car showcase. Kids were thrilled to sit inside, press a few buttons, and explore the cool equipment.
Local officer, PC Isuru Ranaweera, beamed,
“This was a fantastic event to be part of, and it was wonderful to meet so many inspiring and aspirational people. We loved engaging with military families, sharing tips on staying safe, and we hope some might consider joining the police force in the future.”
