Sixth person charged in North Kent drug and firearm investigation

A sixth individual has been charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug and firearm offences in North Kent.

The 59-year-old suspect from London was arrested on 17 September and faces multiple charges, including possession of an offensive weapon, selling or transferring a prohibited weapon or ammunition, and possession with intent to supply amphetamine and cocaine. Additionally, the suspect is charged with acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property.

After appearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 18 September, they were remanded in custody and scheduled to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on 14 October.

The investigation began on 21 July 2024, when officers stopped a vehicle in Greenhithe for driving without a front number plate or insurance. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag of white powder, believed to be cocaine, and a phone, leading to the arrest of the driver from the Isle of Sheppey.

Subsequent searches of properties in Greenhithe and Maidstone uncovered various drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, three handguns, ammunition, and a significant amount of cash.

These individuals have appeared in court and are either awaiting sentencing or trial. Additionally, a 30-year-old man from Dartford has been arrested on suspicion of drug supply and is currently on bail pending further enquiries.
