Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at Swalecliffe Post Office on Herne Bay Road, Whitstable. The incident occurred at 8:39 am on Thursday, 19 September 2024.

A man, described as around 5ft 11in, of slim build, wearing a black balaclava and gloves, entered the post office and assaulted a staff member. He threatened the staff member with a knife before making off with cash and postage stamps. The suspect was also reported to be wearing grey trousers, a grey tracksuit top, light brown work boots, and carrying a black rucksack.

Officers quickly responded to the scene and conducted initial enquiries. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Detective Inspector Danni Driscoll stated,

“While the investigation is in its early stages, we are appealing for anyone who may have relevant information about the incident, including dashcam footage, to come forward.”

Witnesses are urged to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/158829/24. Detective Inspector Driscoll added,

“I would like to reassure members of the community that incidents such as this are very rare, and we are working at pace to identify the person responsible.”
