Kent County Council (KCC) has responded to Transport for London’s (TfL) consultation on the proposed user charges for the Silvertown and Blackwall tunnels, raising concerns about the impact on Kent residents and congestion at the Dartford crossing.

While KCC supports TfL’s goals to improve journey reliability and reduce air pollution, they have expressed concerns about the potential impacts on local traffic flows and the financial burden on Kent residents and businesses.

KCC believes that with 10% of the Blackwall tunnel’s current users traveling from Kent, the proposed charges could significantly affect their daily commutes and financial wellbeing.
