Man charged after break-ins at Sellindge and Ashford Co-Op stores

A man has been charged following a reported break-in at a Co-Op store in Sellindge, near Ashford.

Kent Police responded to the incident at 12:52 a.m. on Monday, 23 September 2024. After initial enquiries, a suspect was arrested nearby.

Officers seized a holdall containing multiple packets of cigarettes, alcohol, and other items. The suspect was later charged with burglary and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with this incident, as well as a previous burglary at a Co-Op store on Faversham Road in Kennington on 29 August 2024.

The suspect appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 24 September and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on 28 October.
