A suspect has been charged in connection with a reported disturbance in Folkestone town centre late on Friday evening.

Kent Police responded to a call at 11:53 PM on Friday, 20 September 2024, regarding a man allegedly wielding an axe outside a premises on Tontine Street. It was reported that the man had threatened individuals known to him following an earlier altercation, before he left the scene.

Officers arrived promptly, and initial enquiries led to the arrest of a man nearby a short while later. An axe and a quantity of cannabis were recovered during the arrest.

On Sunday, 22 September, the suspect was charged with possession of a blade or sharply pointed article, possession of a class B drug, and a public order offence. He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the following day and was bailed to appear before Canterbury Crown Court at a later date.
