Get ready for some action-packed fun in Sheerness! Local officers and partners have teamed up to bring thrilling sports sessions to the community, and they’re a massive hit with over 100 young people joining in the excitement.
When residents voiced concerns about teenagers having nothing to do in the evenings, the neighbourhood constables sprang into action. They secured a whopping £5,000 from the Hotspot Policing problem-solving budget to tackle the issue head-on.
Enter Sports Connect, the heroes of community sports activities! They chipped in with additional funding and collaborated with the officers to set up regular sporting events for local boys and girls. But that’s not all – they’re also offering coaching qualifications to help young attendees boost their future job prospects.
These energetic sessions take place at Beachfields Park every Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm, and they’re set to continue into the autumn, thanks to the floodlit arena.

“It’s fantastic to see the young people we meet on patrol eagerly participating in these free sessions with such a positive attitude. Many come from families who couldn’t afford these activities elsewhere. I encourage anyone aged 11 to 19 to join us, make new friends, and have a blast.
“No need to book in advance – just show up and dive into events like football and tennis. Our officers and Sports Connect staff will be there, and parents are welcome to come along too.”
