Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage following an incident near Faversham where two police vehicles were damaged and a suspect was detained.

The pursuit took place at approximately 10:15am on Monday, 23 September 2024, when a Kent Police motorcyclist requested the driver of a flat-bed truck carrying scaffolding to stop as it travelled from Brenley Corner onto the A2 London Road.

The vehicle, with a registration number starting GN19, did not stop and was pursued into Ospringe Street and then Faversham Road. It proceeded into Well Lane where it is alleged the vehicle reversed and was involved in a collision with the motorcycle. The officer was not harmed during the incident and the truck left the scene.

A patrol car continued the pursuit in Hanslett’s Lane and then Water Lane in Ospringe, where it is reported the truck reversed again and struck the vehicle. The constable suffered a cut and bruising during the incident.

Officers located the flat-bed vehicle unattended in Athelstan Road at around 11.20am and a suspect was arrested shortly after in Egbert Road. The 31-year-old man was later bailed to return to the police station on 13 December, pending further enquiries.

Investigators are now appealing for motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV to check for relevant footage which may show the flat-bed truck.  Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01795 419119, quoting reference 46/161385/24.
