Each year during November, Folkestone remembers those who lost their lives in War with a series of Civic events 

SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER 

2.00pm Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance  

  • Each year, Regiment Crosses are placed out for the duration of November in the  Garden of Remembrance in Sandgate Road for members of the public to pay  their respects. 
  • Following placement of the Regiment Crosses, a service is held to dedicate the  Garden and Crosses.  
  • The service is led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, and attended by civic dignitaries,  Cadets and ex-service personnel. Members of the public are invited to attend and  all are asked to congregate by 1.40pm. 

SUNDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 

10.30am Remembrance Sunday Service & Parade 

  • The annual Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade will commence at  10.30am at the War Memorial at the top of the Road of Remembrance.  
  • Any Veterans wishing to march in the main column are asked to make their way  to the Leas Cliff Hall from 10.10am where they will be instructed by the Parade  Commander, in readiness to depart from 10.30am.  

MONDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 

11.00am Machine Gun Corps 

  • This customary service, organised by the Royal British Legion, will take place at  the Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) Memorial at the Cemetery on Cheriton Road. 
  • The service commences at 11.00am, all assembling at 10.50am. 

NB Please ensure you indicate if your organisation intends to lay a wreath at the  Remembrance Parade by emailing Georgina.wilson@folkestone-tc.gov.uk before 6  November 2024
