The Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Abena Akuffo-Kelly, is thrilled to announce the opening of nominations for the Town Mayor’s Community Awards!

This annual event is a fantastic opportunity for the Mayor to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of community members who have made a significant impact in Folkestone over the past year.

Last year, amazing individuals who made a difference through their work with Bayle Music, Folkestone Rescue, local projects, and keeping our town clean through litter picking were among many other community efforts.

Now, it’s your turn to shine a spotlight on those who deserve it!

The Town Mayor invites you to nominate outstanding individuals or local organizations for the 2024/25 Community Awards. Here’s what you need to know:

Nominee Criteria:

  • Not an employee of local government or a Folkestone Councillor.
  • Not employed in a specific community role.
  • An unpaid volunteer who has selflessly given their time to help others or the community.
  • Local organizations that have significantly contributed to charitable activities beyond their regular services.

Additional Criteria:

  • Someone whose service to the community is truly commendable.
  • Someone who deserves recognition for their effort, strength, bravery, or achievements.
  • Someone who has accomplished something that benefits the local community or the entire town.

If you know someone who fits these criteria, don’t hesitate! Complete a Nomination Form available at the Town Council Offices in the Town Hall, 1-2 Guildhall Street, Folkestone, or by emailing georgina.wilson@folkestone-tc.gov.uk. The deadline for nominations is the end of January 2025.

Let’s come together to celebrate the unsung heroes of Folkestone!
