Police investigators are appealing for witnesses to a report of a serious assault in a Gillingham public house. The incident happened at the Fleur de Lis in Gillingham Road at around 7.45pm, on Monday 16 September 2024.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was involved in an altercation in the bar area where it is alleged another man struck his head with a sock containing balls from a pool table. The victim was treated in hospital for swelling and cuts to his head.
Patrols arrived at the scene and a suspect from Gillingham, was later charged with wounding with intent, affray, possession of cocaine and failing to provide a sample for a drug test. The 59-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, on Monday 14 October.
