In a cruel twist, the ambitious £20 million project to transform the beloved city centre in Canterbury, it has hit a major bump in the road.
The much-anticipated upgrades to Dane John Gardens will mean that all events planned for 2025 are officially off the table!
The project, which promised to bring safer lighting, upgraded footpaths, and lush new flower beds to make the gardens more beautiful and functional than ever means the extensive work required has forced the cancellation of all events for the entire year.
Cllr Charlotte Cornell, the cabinet member spearheading the project, broke the news, saying, the news may disappoint some people, but we have been proactive with event organisers and let them know in plenty of time that they will need to change their plans and consider alternative sites for 2025.
While the news is a blow to event-goers, there is a silver lining.
By 2026, the gardens will be back and better than ever, ready to host events in a newly revitalized space. Get ready for a spectacular comeback!
