Suspects have been charged after two women reported they were robbed during separate incidents in Maidstone and Sittingbourne.

On Thursday 3 October 2024, a victim was at her home near Hart Street, Maidstone, when she answered the door. It is alleged two men entered her property and she was threatened before a mobile phone, cash and some jewellery were stolen.

On the same day, a woman who was staying at a hotel in Sittingbourne, reported two men had entered her room. The victim stated she was threatened before cash, bank cards and mobile phones were stolen. One of her cards was later allegedly used in an attempted fraud.

An investigation into both incidents led detectives to arrest one suspect on Friday 4 October following a short vehicle pursuit, and the second on Tuesday 8 October.

A 45-year-old man from Gravesend and a man aged 24 from Maidstone, were later charged with two robberies. The man from Maidstone was also charged with dangerous driving and was further charged with fraudulent use of a bank card.

The Gravesend man appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 4 November. The Maidstone man is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 10 October.
