Library imageAmbitious plan to transform Dane Valley into a thriving mini-woodland :::

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make a positive impact on your local environment! Thanet District Council is inviting residents to join in the first of six exciting community tree planting events on Monday, October 28th to Saturday, November 2nd, 10am-3pm daily at Dane Valley Road, Margate.

Together, it’s hoped to transform Dane Valley into a thriving mini-woodland by planting 2,000 young trees. This initiative is supported by Kent County Council and is part of a larger plan to increase tree cover throughout Thanet. Don’t miss this opportunity to:

  • Connect with your neighbours and community.
  • Contribute to a greener, healthier environment.
  • Learn about the importance of trees and their benefits.

Join in for a day of fun, friendship, and environmental stewardship and help create a lasting legacy for future generations! These areas of mini-woodland could absorb approximately 1,140 tonnes of carbon emissions over 30 years.

  • Garlinge Recreation Ground, Margate (0.5 hectares)
  • Memorial Recreation Ground, Broadstairs (0.4 hectares)
  • Northdown Park, Margate (0.8 hectares)
  • St Peter’s Recreation Ground, Broadstairs (0.6 hectares)
  • Tivoli Park, Margate (0.5 hectares)

Information boards planned for each site will give people the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of trees and individual species in their local environment. Click here for more information about the Dane Valley event, and to book a space.
