A targeted police operation in Folkestone on Tuesday, October 22, resulted in over 20 drivers being reported for various traffic offences and two arrests. Officers from the Kent Police and Kent Special Constabulary conducted traffic checks in the Sandgate Road, Park Farm, and town centre areas.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped in Middelburg Square, leading to a foot chase and the arrest of two local men in their 40s. The men were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and later bailed pending further investigation.

In addition to the arrests, 24 motorists were issued with Traffic Offence Reports for offences such as children not being properly secured, speeding, unsafe tyres, and using a mobile phone while driving. One vehicle was seized for being untaxed, and other drivers received words of advice regarding their driving and vehicle safety. Four foreign-licenced vehicles were issued with fixed-penalty tickets for stopping at the roadside and using a mobile phone.

PC Kevin Marsh said,

“The potential consequences of collisions caused by dangerous driving and unsafe vehicles can be devastating for pedestrians and other road users. We urge everyone to adhere to the laws of the road and prioritize the safety of others. When motorists fail to do so, we will take appropriate action.”
