A 59-year-old suspect from Matfield had been charged with the murder of 54-year-old Wayne Woodgate, from Tunbridge Wells who had been reported missing on Thursday 17 October 2024, after he was last seen in the Goods Station Road area of the town.
On Wednesday 23 October, an investigation into his disappearance led officers to a rural location in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, where a body was located and which has been identified as Mr Woodgate.
The Matfield suspect was arrested on the previous day and on the evening of Thursday 24 October, he was charged with murder and remanded in custody. He was due to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday 25 October.
