Deal Pier is getting a much-needed facelift! After a thorough check-up earlier this year, bosses have greenlit a £140k repair job. The lower deck is getting some serious TLC, with broken concrete and dodgy steps being fixed up. Don’t worry, though – the main pier and the popular café will still be open for business.
The 12-week makeover is set to finish in January 2025. Once it’s done, the lower deck will be back open for strolling and sea gazing. This isn’t the end of the pier’s makeover. Next year, they’re planning to tackle some more crumbling concrete on the pier legs.
Council chiefs are keen to keep the historic pier in tip-top shape for generations to come. Cllr Charlotte Zosseder said:
“Deal Pier is a beloved local landmark, and we’re committed to preserving it for future generations.”
