Residents of Askes Court in Hoxton Close, Singleton, are buzzing with excitement over their newly unveiled sensory garden and mini wildflower meadow. This vibrant oasis was born from a shared dream to create a communal space that would bring residents together.

The once-neglected corner, overgrown with unruly bushes and brambles, has been transformed into a serene retreat. A lush, green lawn now stretches out, inviting residents to relax on comfortable benches. Colourful plant pots add a splash of vibrancy, while a soothing water feature creates a tranquil ambiance. But the transformation didn’t stop there. A nearby area has been sown with wildflowers, attracting a variety of pollinators and bringing a touch of nature’s beauty to the community.

This remarkable project was made possible thanks to the generous support of local officials. Bill Barrett, the Singleton ward member on Ashford Borough Council, contributed nearly £700 from his ward member’s annual grant. Great Chart with Singleton Parish Council also chipped in with a £139 donation. The sensory garden was officially opened by Cllr Barrett, alongside Janet Sullivan, Co-Vice Chair of the parish council, and a group of delighted residents. Askes Court is now a more beautiful and welcoming place, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the community and local leaders.
