Four men who broke into a Folkestone house used to grow cannabis have been jailed after police responded to a disturbance report at a Pavilion Road property on 12 April 2023. Officers found four men inside, one with a machete. All were arrested.

A search uncovered 150 cannabis plants, harvested cannabis, weapons, and illegal electricity extraction. A fifth man, believed to be guarding the property, was found in the loft and arrested. Investigations revealed the four arrested men had travelled from London to steal the building’s contents. All four admitted burglary.

At Canterbury Crown Court on 13 November 2024:

  • A 44-year-old man from Camden, north London, was jailed for 22 months.
  • A 45-year-old man from Dalston, east London, was jailed for 18 months.
  • A 38-year-old man from Paisley was given a two-year community order.
  • A 36-year-old man from Tottenham, north London, was given a two-year community order.

A 22-year-old man was previously given a suspended sentence for drug production.

Kent Police said the organisers knew the property contained illegal drugs and travelled to Kent to commit crime. Police praised officers for their bravery in arresting five people and disarming one of a machete and Kent Police vowed to continue tackling organised crime and drug offences.
