Over a tonne of cannabis has been seized as Kent Police continues to disrupt and shut down organised crime networks. On this occasion officers stopped a Ford Transit van in Wrotham Road, Gravesend during the afternoon of Wednesday 13 November 2024 following a report of suspicious activity.
The van was searched and found to contain an estimated 500 kilograms of packed cannabis. Two men were arrested at the scene and enquiries led to detectives searching a property in Herne Hill, south east London on the same day. More cannabis, estimated at weighing around 800 kilograms, was seized at the property and the total street value of all the seized drugs is estimated to exceed more than £1million.
A man aged 69 from Herne Hill and a 57-year-old man from Stoke Newington, have both been charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply. They appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday 15 November and were remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
