Strong winds due to Storm Bert are likely to cause dangerous coastal conditions and disruption across much of southern England at the weekend warn Met Office forecasters.
They say south or south-westerly gales, which could be severe locally are likely to affect Kent and many southern counties of England from Saturday afternoon, 23 November until Sunday night, 24 November. The strongest winds will be along coasts with gusts of 60-70 mph possible around exposed headlands, while elsewhere gusts of 50-60 mph are possible, even for some inland locations.
Winds are expected to ease across the southwest on Sunday morning, 24 November, but may take until evening before easing across Kent in the far southeast.
