On Monday, November 18th, a man was approached by an unknown woman in the High Street. The woman unexpectedly hugged the man before fleeing towards Military Road. The man later discovered his gold chain, adorned with a lion emblem, had been stolen.

The suspect is described as a white woman, aged between 20 and 25, of slim build with brown hair. She was wearing a white woollen hat, top, and trousers and spoke with an Eastern European accent.

Police Sergeant Jason Francis said,

“As the holiday season approaches, we want to remind people to stay alert while shopping. If you’re approached by a stranger seeking directions, shaking your hand, or attempting to hug you, be cautious and protect your belongings.”

The stolen chain holds significant sentimental value, and police are urging anyone who may have been offered the item for sale to come forward. Anyone with information should contact Kent Police on 01634 792209, quoting reference 46/200318/24.
