A prolific shoplifter from Camden Town, London has been jailed after a brazen theft spree at Bluewater Shopping Centre. Nimatullah Duman, who was already serving a suspended prison sentence, targeted high-value electrical goods at the Greenhithe retail hub on 22nd August 2024.

Duman, along with an accomplice, first struck at HMV, making off with headphones and a t-shirt worth £36.98. They then moved onto John Lewis, where they stole four pairs of headphones, two speakers, and perfume, totalling £1,030.96. The pair were stopped by security staff at the nearby bus station and were subsequently arrested by police.

Duman has now been sentenced to prison for his latest offences.

Investigating officer, PC Leon Baker, said:

‘This offender was given a suspended sentence at a previous court hearing as an opportunity to reform his ways and become a productive member of society. Duman failed to live up to these hopes and decided to visit a Kent shopping centre to steal several expensive items.
‘He was swiftly detained and will now be spending some time behind bars. Duman, and thieves like him, should reflect that visiting our county to shoplift is not the wisest choice for a criminal over the festive season.’
