Men suspected of possession of cocaine charged after cops in Margate find man asleep in car with engine running

Three people have been arrested after police found a knife and drugs in a car in Grosvenor Place, Margate on Wednesday morning.

Kent Police officers on patrol noticed a man asleep in the front seat of a blue car with the engine running. Further checks revealed two more people inside the vehicle. A search of the car uncovered a kitchen knife under one of the seats, along with cannabis and suspected class A drugs.

Three people were later charged in connection with the incident.

A 27-year-old, from Birmingham, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and a possession of a knife in a public place. A man aged 30, also from Birmingham was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, using a vehicle without insurance, possession of a knife, possession of cannabis and possession of criminal property (cash). A man aged 26 from London, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of cannabis.

They all appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court the following day. The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on 6 January 2025.
