Nearly 30 bank and loyalty cards were seized by police from a suspected fraudster as his car underwent a routine repair in a Tunbridge Wells repair centre.
It is reported that two members of staff initially located a number of bank cards, suspected to be stolen or fraudulently obtained, concealed within a car fuse box as they undertook a headlamp bulb change. Kent Police was called to Halfords in Dowding Way at around 4.15pm on Wednesday 27 November 2024.
When officers arrived at the scene a 34-year-old man from Gillingham was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation. A search at a property linked to the suspect led to the seizure of more cards, two mobile phones, and a laptop. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries and an investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
