An Ashford taxi driver, Tashil Hashemi, has lost his appeal against the revocation of his taxi driver’s license by Ashford Borough Council. The decision was made by Margate Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 22nd, 2024.

The council’s decision to revoke his taxi driver’s license was based on a series of complaints and allegations against Mr. Hashemi, including:

  • Verbal abuse: Insulting customers, security staff, and council officials.
  • Fare refusal: Denying service to potential passengers.
  • Poor driving: Driving recklessly and carelessly.
  • Misuse of taxi ranks: Using ranks for personal parking.
  • Obstruction: Hindering council officers during inspections.

The court, after considering the evidence presented by the council, determined that Mr. Hashemi was not “fit and proper” to hold a taxi driver’s license. The appeal was dismissed, and Mr. Hashemi was ordered to pay £4,000 in legal costs.
