A significant haul of drugs, including cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis, was discovered by a police dog in woodland near Tunbridge Wells. The drugs, estimated to be worth over £30,000, were hidden by 21-year-old Aden Maynard, who played a key role in a drug supply network operating across west Kent.
The incident unfolded on July 13, 2024, when police officers responded to a disturbance in Hornbean Avenue. Maynard, acting suspiciously, fled into nearby woodland, discarding a shoulder bag. Police Dog Charlie was deployed and quickly located the bag, which contained the drugs, cash, and a knife.
A subsequent investigation linked Maynard to the “AD line” drug network. Evidence, including CCTV footage and sales receipts, further implicated him in the supply of drugs.
Maynard pleaded guilty to multiple drug offenses and possession of a knife. On December 2, he was sentenced to three years and four months’ imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court.
PC James Heaver said:
‘Maynard was seen to return to the woods after we had initially spoken to him and it was clear he was panicked about what we were about to find. After almost 30 minutes searching for the bag we believed he had hidden, PD Charlie then quickly led us to its hiding place. This was a significant seizure of drugs and Maynard’s phone provided further and irrefutable evidence of his role in an extensive operation supplying to multiple users.’
