Multiple Kent wide shops targeted by prolific teenage offender

Kent Police investigators have continued the fight against retail crime by charging a man suspected of multiple thefts across the county. It’s alleged between 10 October and 11 December 2024, several shoplifting offences were reported by staff at shops in Gravesend, Whitstable, Dover, Ashford and Faversham.

Items allegedly stolen included toiletries, confectionary and alcohol with a value exceeding £2,500. An investigation to identify those responsible led to the arrest of a suspect in Otford on Wednesday 11 December.

A teenager from Ilford was later charged with 10 counts of theft. The 19-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 13 December. He was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 24 January 2025.
