Thanks to the generosity of local staff, the Probation Service, and the Folkestone Channel Rotary Club, 119 vulnerable children and young people will receive a special Christmas gift this year.
This heartwarming initiative, known as “Wish Upon a Star,” was launched in honour of Nicola Baker, a beloved former staff member at Folkestone and Hythe District Council who dedicated her life to helping others. The annual campaign aims to spread joy and brighten the holidays for those in need within the district.
“Wish Upon a Star” truly demonstrates the power of community,” said Cllr Mike Blakemore, Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration.
“It’s incredible to see our staff and partners come together to make such a positive impact on the lives of our children. This is what the holiday season is all about – giving back and spreading kindness.”
The gifts, generously donated by the community, will be delivered by Kent County Council’s dedicated teams to ensure they reach the children in time for Christmas Day. This heartwarming gesture will undoubtedly bring smiles and create lasting memories for those who need it most.”
